My hubby is a huge Simpson's fan. So for his 40th birthday I decided that it was a perfect theme to run with. Here is how it played out. I invited all our friends and children to attend
donning a Simpson theme t-shirt and jeans. It was amazing the creative liberties that people took to be different. It was awesome. I had a friend of his call 15 minutes prior to Otto's
school bus arrival. Yes, Otto's school bus! Limos were just too costly and the school bus fit right in with the occasion. We even made a couple of stops to pick up friends and family. We also
had a safe ride home since we were going to Moe's tavern!!! The bartender wore a Moe mask. Cool! When we arrived at the event location (Irish Brew Pub), a photographer was taking
pictures of us coming off the bus, we felt like celebrities! Hee, hee! As we entered the building, all the rest of our friends and family were waiting, and yelled SURPRISE! They had been
there about 1/2 hour enjoying Moe's Tavern, snacks and some mellow music. I decorated the tables with dark blue tableclothes, yellow napkins and the same colored balloons. The balloons
were held down with little blue buckets that held miniature chocolates (Homer's fav)that had all of the Simpson's famous quotes on them. I did these myself...very simple and fun. I also
ordered a handful of beverage napkins that said, D-Oh!" Happy 40th bd Greg! on them. It was a quaint touch.
I hired a saxophonist to play for the evening since Lisa was a huge musician. He was awesome. My daughter is 8 just like Lisa so she sang "Jazzman" with the saxophonist and it turned out great! Since I had about 20 kids attending I hired a clown too. He sat and made balloon animals for 2 hours. Poor guy! The kids loved it! For appetizers we had only things a Homer could love....pork rinds cocktail sausages and hot wings. For dinner we had pulled pork sandwiches bacon infused macaroni and cheese green beans w/bacon and scalloped potatoes w/bacon! To end the evening I had ordered a donut tower in lue of a cake! We had some with the traditional pink frosting and sprinkles like Homer loves and even a couple with maple and guess what.....yep bacon on top! Fantastic! All the guests raved about how much fun they and their kids had. I would do it all over in a second!! "
