Hawaiin 5-0. I bought paper that looked hawaiin and the invitation read: Celebrate with us as ______________(my mom's name) turns 5-0 in style! Wear your hawaiin shirts and your hula skirts---and we'll provide the leis. Date and time, address, rsvp numbers. I bought leis at the dollar tree (6 for $1), blown up flamingos, a hula skirt looking table decoration, aloha sign, tiki torches, built a tiki pole, and made pineapple looking paper lanterns. Along with balloons and streamers that will hang around the house and outside. We have saltwater taffy (in a fish bowl), brightly colored m&m's (we are chocoholics), and a fish cracker snack mix (in a sandbucket) that I'll make. My brother will be handling the games: so far we have a pinata that is in the shape of a pineapple, the pineapple bowling, frisbee's, limbo, and sidewalk chalk so that the kids can do their own thing if they so choose. I bought some small wading pools at the dollar tree that will be filled with ice and to put on the table so that the fruit salads and dips will remain cold as well as the soda. Along with homemade icecream, some cookies and a small cake--the even will be held at my parents house with a large bonfire outback to relax by. We also bought some candles in the shapes of flip flops, fish and palm trees. Most of the things we are doing are little details that so often get forgotten. The meal will consist of sloppy joes, baked beans (hawaiin style), o-shrimp salad, and other sides. I bought a luau cd at a "junk store" as my husband calls them so we are all ready!!!
